PMFがカトリーナの被災地に登場

ハリケーン・カトリーナの被災地で、企業の依頼を受けた民間軍事会社が略奪防止のため*1警備にあたっているとのこと。ブラックウォーターが150名、アーマーグループが50名など。例によってピーター・W・シンガーにお呼びがかかり、普通の警備会社があるのにこうした企業に頼るのは"overkill"だとコメントしている。
追記。Boing Boingの該当記事も参照。New York Timesによれば、ニューオリンズ市民は警察に銃器を押収されており、法執行機関以外は武器の携帯を認めないと説明を受けている。が、民間軍事会社の社員はM-16などのアサルトライフルを携帯しているにもかかわらず、没収の予定は無いという。*2
