オバマの側近がクリントンは「モンスター」だと発言し、辞任
これも最近はじまりだしたネガティヴ・キャンペーンか？ オバマの側近って誰だよ……って思って記事読んだら、サマンサ・パワーじゃないか！
サマンサ・パワーは元ジャーナリストで、ハーバード・ケネディ行政大学院のカー人権政策センターの教授。20世紀のジェノサイドとアメリカの対応のケーススタディである"A Problem from Hell"(2003)はピューリツァー賞を受賞した（翻訳が出版されるはずだったが、もう１年半ぐらい遅れている）。最新作の"Chasing the Flame"(2008)では、国連外交官セルジオ・デメロの生涯を主題として、国連の問題点と改革の展望について素描している。オバマの大統領選における外交問題顧問を務め、オバマの大統領就任のあかつきには、国務省入りすると目されていた。
「モンスター」発言をしたThe Scotsmanの記事を読むと、ネガティヴ・キャンペーンというより、単に脇が甘くて思っていることを口にしただけのようにみえる。
なんにせよ残念だ。
"We f***** up in Ohio," she admitted. "In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win."She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything," Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark.
Ms Power said of the Clinton campaign: "Here, it looks like desperation. I hope it looks like desperation there, too.
"You just look at her and think, 'Ergh'. But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."
